Support The Pulp!

The Pulp is an independent, nonprofit news organization for Missoula. As we await approval of our 501(c)(3) application, donating on this page through our fiscal sponsor, the Tiny News Collective, ensures your donation will be tax deductible.

A message from co-founders Erika Fredrickson and Matthew Frank:

Back in early September, we found ourselves in Chicago accepting an award for New Business of the Year 🏆 from LION Publishers, a national organization dedicated to local journalism entrepreneurship and sustainability.

It was pretty surreal, in part because we’d attended the same LION conference less than two years earlier and it was there that we came up with the name “The Pulp,” 🍊 and bought thepulp.org domain name on a phone at the hotel bar.

So to return and have The Pulp recognized for its startup strategy and “incredible content” was pretty darn validating.

But the award is really less about us than you. It’s a testament to the greater Missoula community’s support of this work, and we’re profoundly grateful. Only with your support can we build a vital and vibrant local news organization that reflects, serves, and connects people in and around this fast-changing town.

As we look to 2025, The Pulp is focused on growing our reporting capacity so we can tell more stories on a wider range of topics and in new ways, and reach more and more people across Missoula and western Montana.

Will you join us? Thank you for your support! 🙏

Cheers,
Matt and Erika
